Arrival In Iran: At The Airport

Being in an airport for the first time might be exciting, a little frustrating, or a combination of the two. But honestly, being strange in a new airport is no stress. All you have to do is gather the essential documents, turn up on time, and be relax.

We understand that anything that you do for the first time, you might have some questions. That’s why, here, we’re giving you some travel tips that will fully prepare you for the flight ahead and leave no surprises for when you land for the first time at Isfahan airport.

Before You Leave for Iran

 

Check that you have a copy of all documents including copy of passport, visa and flight ticket. Keep this copy separate (do not put them together) so that they are easily accessible when needed. Bring the original document with you. Leave a copy of all of them with a family member.

  3. 12 official photo (3cm×4cm) with white background
  4. Diploma degree in original (2 copy of the original diploma)
  5. Original official transcript (2 copy of the transcript)
  6. Tuition Fee (in US Dollars)
  7. English translation of medical prescription
  8. Personal document including driving license and ID card

Your original Diploma needs to be approved (sighed and verified) by:

  • The institution which has issued the degree
  • The original diploma and original official transcript must be translating to English language.
  • The original diploma that translated to English language must be stamp by the embassy of Iran in your country or the embassy of your country in Iran

Arrival in Iran

If you arrive at the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, various transportation services are ready to take you all the way from the IKA airport to the City of Isfahan.

Metro

The first train departs from airport at 6:50 morning and the last train departs from Shahed station to the airport at 19:15 pm. The distance between each train displacement is about 80 minute.

Taxi

For convenience of passengers, the airport taxi service provides services throughout the country at all the time (day and night). As soon as you leave the terminal hall, you can apply for your desired taxi.

If you arrive at the Isfahan International Airport directly from your hometown, it is easy to transfer to the city center.

Airport Taxi

Taxi services are provided at the airport affiliated to the Isfahan Taxi Management and supervision organization. Taxis are ready 24 hours a day to serve you.

Pay attention please:

  • Please just use the authorized airport taxi services to get to downtown Isfahan.
  • Drivers will generally not give change to foreign travelers, so carry small bills.
  • Be sure to agree on the price beforehand or insist that the driver uses the taximeter.

Suburban Bus

Isfahan Airport bus line transports passengers from the airport to the city center. This line is open daily from the airport to Kaveh Terminal and vice versa.

Isfahan International Airport or Shahid Beheshti International Airport is one of the oldest airports in the country which is located on a land with an area of 1041 hectares and an altitude of 1542 meters above sea level. It was established in 1982 to provide scheduled and non-scheduled air services, training, and passenger flights.

Dress-code

In Iran, wearing Hijab is mandatory for women. Also, men should dress appropriately. So, please keep in mind that to observe this rule.

Time to Go to the Airport

For international flights, you have to be at the airport 3 hours before the flight.

Carrying the Required Documents for Foreign Trips

The most vital things for traveling are money and documents. Before arriving at the airport, make sure you have the necessary documents such as passport, visa, ID card, ticket, receipt of exit fees, and put them in your handbag. Remember never to leave your essentials unattended.

Aircraft Load Limit

In order to provide safe flight operations, airlines place a limit on the weights of passengers ‘baggage. This amount is between 20 to 50 kg per luggage which is determined depending on the type of aircraft, flight route, and type of ticket, but usually, the amount of cargo allowed for international flights is 30 kg. Of course, people who have a business class ticket can carry 10 to 20 kg more.

Baggage Allowance

Checked baggage, carry-on baggage, and personal item are different baggage you could carry for your travel. Now, it’s the best time to learn about the different types of baggage and which items you’re allowed to bring.

 

Checked Baggage

Checked baggage or hold baggage is an item of baggage that is stored in the hold of the aircraft and can’t be accessed during the flight. 

Carry-on Baggage

Carry-on baggage also called hand baggage is an item of baggage that is kept on-person during the flight and you could bring it in the cabin.

Personal Item

A personal item is a small item of baggage, such as a handbag, laptop or small rucksack and could be kept on-person during the flight. 

As a passenger on a plane, wherever you want to travel, carry-on baggage or personal item allowance can vary according to the airline, the cabin class you are traveling in, and even the size of the aircraft. Also, some airlines enforce weight limitations, typically starting at 5kg/11lbs. however, there are some limitations for bringing items into a cabin.

Here are some permitted items:

The necessary travel documents such as passport, wallet, credit card, ID card, essential medicines with a doctor`s permit, sunglasses, electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, toiletries.

Prohibited Items

To comply with safety and security principles, there are restrictions on the carrying of certain items by passengers. The following objects are prohibited from entering the aircraft, both in the cargo area and in the cabin: 

  • All types of incendiary, explosive, and flammable materials
  • Pressurized chemical capsules and sprays such as tear gas, anesthetic, self-defense, and liquefied gas
  • All kinds of acidic and corrosive substances such as acid, vinegar, and so on.
  • Also, alcoholic drinks are forbidden.

It is forbidden to bring the following items into the cabin:

  • All types of firearms, including military weapons, hunting, and shotguns
  • All types of combat, hunting, and sports bullets
  • All types of sharp objects and tools such as carpet razor, bottle, glass, knife, sticker, scissors, nail clipper, surgical razor, boxing glove, razor, and similar objects
  • All types of tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, wires, ropes, etc.
  • All types of toy guns that look like a real gun
  • All Kinds of agricultural products such as fruit and meat
  • Baseball, billiards, ski pole, bow and arrow, hockey, golf club

Forbidden Publications

It is forbidden to bring any publications, films, photos, writings, and any goods that are contrary to the national and religious customs of the country.

Mobile Registry

Regarding the mobile registry plan, Iran's customs announced that foreign nationals who intend to stay in Iran for more than a month must activate their mobile phones at the entry gate.
