Cancer is one of the leading causes of death among children and adolescents worldwide; every year, more than 400,000 children ages 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer.
February 15 is designated as “International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD)” by Childhood Cancer International (CCI) in 2002.
ICCD is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer, its unique challenges, and to express support for children and young people with this disease, the survivors and their families. Also, it highlights the need for more equitable access to treatment and care for all children with cancer, everywhere.
A three-year campaign is made for ICCD (2021-2023), and in each year, a slogan is announced for the day. The second year of this campaign theme is ‘Better Survival’ is achievable #throughyourhands.
This campaign is designed to use the universal image of colorfully painted handprints of children to represent survival rates for children with cancer on a national, regional and international scale.
