Mission of the International Education Department of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences Regarding the MD/MBBS Program
The International Education Center of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences is determined to utilize the most effective and up-to-date curriculum, employ motivated, capable, and dedicated faculty members, and provide appropriate educational facilities. In line with the policies issued by the Supreme Leader, the Comprehensive Scientific Map of the country, the Health Document, and the Expected Competencies of General Practitioners, the center aims to graduate students who are equipped with modern knowledge and technology, committed to social values and responsibilities, and pioneers in innovative basic and clinical research based on societal needs. These graduates will be trained as physicians capable of global communication and addressing the medical needs of society. They will be responsive to all health-related needs of the community, including physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects, and will strive to preserve human dignity by considering the global job market and regional and global health needs. Serving humanity and alleviating the suffering of the afflicted, while adhering to human dignity, will be their top priority.
With the assistance of the General Medical Education Department, International Education aims to foster organized student participation in policy-making and executive processes related to the MBBS program. This will ensure the development of seven key competencies in MBBS graduates: clinical skills, communication skills, patient care, health promotion and prevention, the physician's role in regional and global health systems, personal growth, professional commitment, medical ethics and law, and ethical and professional problem-solving, reasoning, and decision-making.
The International Education Center, with the support of the General Medical Education Department of the Medical School, as the provider of educational services to MBBS students, seeks to enhance community health comprehensively by training general practitioners and scholars. This will be achieved through the use of committed and efficient personnel tailored to societal needs, creating appropriate learning opportunities, community-based education, innovation in curriculum delivery across all levels, vertical integration of education, virtual education, aligning teaching methods with educational goals, and expanding remote services such as telemedicine. These efforts will be based on the perceived needs of service recipients.
The International Education Center, with the assistance of the General Medical Education Department, aims to train graduates proficient in clinical skills and research principles, possessing critical thinking and familiarity with evidence-based medicine. These graduates will pursue professional development through lifelong learning or further education (if desired), meet societal needs in collaboration with other health team members, and consider modern achievements in all aspects of medicine, including equipment, methods, and new principles of medical education, as well as transnational health aspects such as regional and national priorities and global health challenges. Additionally, International Education emphasizes cultural diversity in the development of communication skills and strives to cultivate graduates who are sensitive to this issue through cultural programs and course content.
