The University of Lahore (UOL) and University of Health Sciences Lahore (UHS) were delighted to welcome the Chancellor of the Medical University of Isfahan, Dr. Cahngiz, who was accompanied by Vice-Chancellor of Education, Dr. Sabri, and the Head of International Education Center, Dr. Marjan Mansourian.
MUI, UHS, and UOL agreed that cooperation in research collaborations as well as student and faculty exchanges would be mutually beneficial. The areas of cooperation may include, subject to mutual consent, any desirable and feasible activity that would further the goals of each institution. Such interaction may include cooperation in a variety of joint academic and educational activities such as joint research projects and publications, dual degree programs in all basic and clinical sciences, team taught courses, and placement of students in internships and co-ops.
Currently, some Pakistani students are studying in the first year of medicine at MBBS level. MUI agreed to provide more seats in MBBS/MD, BDS/DDS and Pharm.D courses to best-performing students who are recommended by UHS and wish to study at MUI. Scholarships will be given to students based on their mark sheets up to 100%.
Furthermore, MUI signed a memorandum of understanding with Faculty of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, to establish linkage and contacts for student exchange, academic staff exchange, foundation of a Pharmaceutical Science Journal, collaboration in research projects, etc.
The Chancellor also visited Iran’s Consul to facilitate visa issuance for exchange programs. Iran and Pakistan have a common socio-cultural background which is interesting for more local and regional cooperation.
