Management and Medical Information Sciences

This faculty is one of the centers that plays a basic role in maintaining and promoting the health of the society. The school aims to establish favorable condition in education, production, and promotion of useful sciences, expansion of knowledge and technology.

History

The faculty of Management and Medical Information Sciences was founded following the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities Development in 1993. Initially, the faculty offered undergraduate degree courses. Later, in the academic year 2005, the postgraduate department was launched introducing master degree courses. In the academic year 2013, PhD courses were run as well.

Vision

The school of Management and Medical Information is a pioneer in education, production and dissemination of useful sciences, pushing the boundaries of knowledge on a global scale while preserving their scientific authority. Having dynamic and constructive interactions with scientific health care centers nationally and internationally is another major goal as well.

Mission

The school aims to train committed and pious human resources in the pertinent faculty fields. Also, the school paves the way to conduct applied research in the field to answer the challenges in the health system.

The six departments of the faculty of Management and Medical Information Sciences are as follows:

1) Department of Healthcare Services Management

3) Department of Medical Librarianship and Information Sciences

4) Department of Health and Social Welfare

6) Department of Foreign Languages

The school offer courses for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students.

Courses

Facilities

Educational facilities of the faculty consist of well-equipped computer sites, four practical skills centres, training Language Laboratory and three special sites devoted to postgraduate students. The library and digital and study hall are available for clients.

Area of Focus

Research activities of the school have developed in different aspects. The Research Centre Complex located in this faculty consists of:

  • Health Management and Economics research centre
  • Health Information Technology research centre
  • Social Determinants of Health research centre

These centres follow goals as improving the quantity and quality of research, making the studies purposeful, supporting applied and productive activities, as well as trying to improve and promote the quality of determined research activities, expanding the quantity and quality of the studies concerning the needs of the society, and finally promoting the health level of the society and patients. The student research committee is also active regarding these goals.

Health Management and Economics Research Centre were established in 2003. The major aims of this centre can be summarized as follows: Developing knowledge and setting the scene for doing researches regarding reforming organizational structure and management decisions, promoting quality of the services, evaluating the viability of the programs and activities in the health system, and managing resources and consumption in this area.
