The National Pharmacist Day has been celebrated annually on August 27 in Iran. This date was chosen because it is the birthday of Abu Bakr Mohammad Ibn Zakariya al-Razi. He is one of the most well-known and respected Iranian physicians during the 9th century A.D. who discovered Alcohol (Ethanol) and sulfuric acid.
All human beings have depended on pharmacy to survive and maintain their lives and health. Pharmacists are a trusted source of knowledge and advice for both patients and health care professionals. Today, due to Covid-19 pandemic, their roles and positive benefits in medical world become more significant.
This day is a good opportunity to remember and celebrate the important and decisive role of the pharmacist community in the country's health care system.
